A British company has signed a multi-million pound deal with
Nintendo, the Japanese computer games giant, that makes it one of
the biggest games programmers in the world.
Under the agreement Rare, based near Twycross, Warwickshire,
will develop a series of video games for Nintendo's game systems.
If only a fraction prove as successful as Rare's recent Donkey Kong
Country $300m ( pounds 186m) smash-hit, then Nintendo will have
recouped its investment.
"Just like the movie business only has a few people who make
great games, Nintendo considers the Rare team the `Spielberg' of
video-game development," said Howard Lincoln, chairman of Nintendo.
