Consumers are being urged to use their spending power to "drop a
bomb on Chirac's plans" for nuclear testing in the South Pacific by
boycotting French wine.
Medact, a voluntary association of doctors formed in 1992 to
campaign for the abolition of nuclear testing , and the British
Nuclear Test Ban Coalition launched a"Say Non" campaign yesterday
with a hard-hitting advertisement, which it hopes will play in
independent cinemas around the country.
When a similar boycott was in force in Sweden in July,
consumption of French wine went down by 25 per cent, the
International Peace Bureau said.
