My initial impression was not, I am afraid to say, wholly
positive. The main entrance to the hotel is reached via a large car
park, as unbeautiful as can be. The strip of sandy beach on which
the hotel perches is liberally dotted with oil. Our roo ms were
decorated in that nasty hotel pinky-orange, with lots of nylon
ruffles, and smelt damply off-season. But I knew everything was
going to be all right when, rifling dismally through the
dressing-table drawer, I came across room laundry details from
"Jeeves", who seemed to assume that normal garments to be laundered
would be "pyjama suits", "safari suits (shorts)" and "safari suits
(long)".
