Article: Network: Want a 3D preview of your new kitchen?

An intriguing program that allows you to see your fitted kitchen before it is built has won the Independent Award for the most innovative use of multimedia in business. On Demand Information, which produced Kitchen Art for the Design Academy, was presented with the award at last week's British Interactive Multimedia Association's annual awards dinner.

Kitchen Art consists of a database of units, tiles, sinks and the like that are stored on a central computer. This is linked by ISDN lines to PC in showrooms. The salesperson can download the elements the customer wants to build up a "virtual" kitchen on screen.
