SINGER Ronnie Hilton shared a talent with Frank Sinatra - a talent for putting over a song.

Like 'Ol Blue Eyes Ronnie shot to fame in the 50s as music moved from big bands to solo singers.

He was "discovered" singing to himself in the shower by the regimental bandmaster of the Gordon Highlanders and began performing with the regimental band and at mess parties.

Following his demob in 1947 he sang in clubs around Leeds and with a local dance band. It was there he received his first piece of constructive criticism in his approach to interpreting a song.
