Article: Massage parlour proprietor fails to block closure moves

A Birmingham massage parlour proprietor has failed in a High Court bid to block closure moves by the city council, which he claims will drive him and his 15 staff out of business.

Mr Terry Taylor, who trades as The First Class Gentlemen's Club and runs a massage parlour in Bristol Road, Selly Oak, was ordered on July 8 to close the premises by July 13 on the basis that he does not have planning consent. Yesterday, the order was up held by Mr Justice Popplewell at the High Court in London who refused Mr Taylor leave to challenge it. He said that any challenge against the council's stance would legally be "doomed to failure."
