Richard Whiteley, 55, was born in Bradford. In 1968, after a
stint as a reporter for ITN, he started working for Yorkshire
Television, and later became the anchorman for 'Calendar', a regional
news magazine. As presenter of 'Countdown', he was the first person
to appear on Channel 4 when it launched in 1982. Richard is single,
and lives in Ilkley, Yorkshire
Barbara Taylor Bradford was raised in Leeds, and at the age of 16
she began to work for the Yorkshire Evening Post. In 1964 she
married the film producer Robert Bradford and moved to America. Her
first novel, 'A Woman of Substance', was published in 1979. Since
then she has sold more than 60 million books in 39 languages. She
