RATHER FITTINGLY the reassuringly boring carpet slippers besides
Tracey Emin's My Bed remained in their original position. Yet, to the
surprise of those filing past yesterday, the rest of the
controversial debris of bloody underwear and condoms had changed
positions.
To the unobservant eye this was the same overall picture of soiled
desperation. But each detail was different - moved to a new position
or altered in some fashion. This was not an original Emin, this was a
newly improved version.
The catalyst for the transformation had not been artistic
temperament by the Turner Prize entrant, but the invasion of two half-
naked Chinese satirists who staged a pillow fight on the bed on
Sunday.
