SIR PETER Davis, the new chief executive of J Sainsbury, stamped
his authority on the ailing supermarket business in only his second
week in the job yesterday with a boardroom reshuffle that included
the removal of two directors.
Sir Peter, who succeeded Dino Adriano who left in January, is to
assume direct responsibility for the key Sainsbury's supermarket
business. David Bremner, the former managing director of the UK
supermarket division, will leave as a result.
Also leaving is Kevin McCarten, the stores director, who in his
previous role of marketing director was responsible for the
disastrous "Value to Shout About" advertising campaign starring John
Cleese.
