A part of the Beatles heritage trail went missing last weekend when the wrought iron gates that guard John Lennon's beloved Strawberry Fields were stolen. The Salvation Army girls' reform school in Liverpool was immortalised in Lennon's `Strawberry Fields Forever'.

Waiting in a warehouse to be crated,

Driven to the docks in a container,

Shipped across the sea somewhere,

Reclassified as bona-fide antiques
