Michael Parkinson CBE (left), 65, was born near Barnsley. He left
school aged 16 to work in newspapers, and has presented BBC1's
"Parkinson" on and off since 1971. He also writes and presents on
radio. He
has three sons and lives in Berkshire with his wife.
The chef Michel Roux was born in 1941 near Lyon and became an
apprentice patissier at the age of 14. With his brother, Albert he
opened Le Gavroche in London and then the Waterside Inn in Bray. He
has three adult children and lives with his wife in Bray.
Michael Parkinson: The Waterside Inn used to be a pub called the
Riverside, and I used to row down, have a few drinks and row back.
