The mysterious elbow ailment that has bothered Scott Erickson for
a week officially has become an issue for the Baltimore Orioles.
Erickson, the number two starter, left the team today to have his
right elbow examined by local doctors and has been scratched from his
scheduled start in Friday's exhibition opener.
"Originally it was just swollen, so I figured it was no big deal,"
Erickson, 32, said this morning before leaving. "It's gotten better
every day, but not as quickly as expected. There's enough swelling in
the joint that I can't straighten my arm. That's all I know. I wish I
knew [what is wrong]. It's a total question mark."
