The Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant soon should become the
first facility of its kind in the nation to win a long-term renewal
of its operating licenses, plant officials told the Calvert County
Board of Commissioners this week.
"Everything has been completed with the exception of the final
vote," said James R. Lemons, manager of nuclear support services for
Baltimore Gas & Electric Co., which owns the Calvert Cliffs plant.
Lemons appeared before the commissioners at their regular Tuesday
meeting.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is scheduled to meet tomorrow to
consider its staff's recommendation that the two reactors at Calvert
