In 1966, Brian Sanders, a 29-year-old illustrator, was asked by his agent whether he was interested in film. A director working on a project about space had seen his work in a colour supplement, and was interested in offering him some work. Thus the young artist found himself spending a year working for the legendary Stanley Kubrick at Elstree studios, recording in pencil, paint and collage the extraordinary scenes behind the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
