Article: Eurostar shrugs off Channel Tunnel link fears as revenues surge by 12%

EUROSTAR SHRUGGED off doubts about the completion of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link yesterday as it reported a strong rise in revenues for last year and a further reduction in operating losses.

Responding to fears that Railtrack's debt burden may prevent it from going ahead with the second phase of the pounds 4.5bn link to London, David Azema, the chairman of Eurostar Group, said: "There are a lot of other companies who would be able to build the line into London. There are other ways to complete the link apart from Railtrack."

London & Continental Railways, which is overseeing the building of the pounds 2.5bn second phase, also said Railtrack's current situation would not delay completion ...
