Moving on has been the sine qua non of Paines Plough from its
creation a quarter-century ago. Not only does this award-winning tiny
theatre company tour the UK twice per annum. It's also devoted to
nurturing fledgling dramatists, and for Vicky Featherstone - the
troupe's artistic director - that involves pushing the boundaries of
playwrighting. "I'm interested in working with writers who comprehend
and want to challenge theatrical form," she says.
Since she took the reins in 1997, aged 30, Featherstone's subtly
experimental premieres have included Abi Morgan's Splendour (awarded
an Edinburgh Festival Fringe First) and Crave by Sarah Kane, where
