Article: Editor quits after `serious error' that caused collapse of footballers' trial

COLIN MYLER, the editor of the Sunday Mirror, fell on his sword yesterday over the Leeds footballers' trial debacle, at the end of a week that will go down in the annals of journalistic infamy. Mr Myler's replacement is Tina Weaver, the present deputy editor of The Mirror.

After a three-day inquest into the disastrous decision to publish the article that led to the collapse of proceedings against Lee Bowyer and Jonathan Woodgate, Mr Myler was held responsible.
