Members of the Prince William Chapter of the NAACP plan to meet
with School Superintendent Edward L. Kelly on Monday to discuss a
series of suspensions that the group has deemed racially biased.
In December, five black students and one white student, all female
seniors, were involved in a fight at Gar-Field High School. The five
black students faced disciplinary action, but the School Board took
no action against the white student after deciding she was not
responsible for the fight.
The school system referred the five black students for possible
punishment, and three were expelled. One was transferred to another
school, and another did not have any role in the fight, the School
