So, can it really be healthy to drink milk from the udder meant
for the growing needs of an animal with four stomachs and a similar
number of legs and hooves, which will eventually weigh half a ton and
eat grass for the rest of its short life?
For decades, the dairy industry has been promoting cow's milk as a
natural drink full of goodness, and countless generations have been
brought up on the concept of a pint-a-day as a benchmark for healthy
living. It is said to be good for bones and teeth, and protective
against osteoporosis and high blood-pressure, and new research
suggests that just one group of fats in milk may protect against
cancer, heart disease and obesity.
