ALEX MCLEISH'S late-night television surfing paid off in style
yesterday when Ulises De La Cruz scored twice as Hibernian won the
first Edinburgh derby of the season at Easter Road.
The Hibernian manager spent a club record pounds 700,000 on the
Ecuador international in the summer after watching him score in a
televised victory over Brazil which has pushed his country to the
brink of World Cup qualification.
This stage did not offer the same rewards, but that will not
bother De La Cruz or his manager, who were both desperate that the
rampaging midfielder find the net for the first time.
