The 2004 World Road Championships will be held in Verona, Italy,
the International Cycling Union announced yesterday. The awarding of
the 2003 Junior Track, 2003 Track and 2004 Mountain Bike World
Championships was postponed to the next meeting of the ICU's
management committee in February.
Britain's Nicole Cooke won the world junior women's time trial
title yesterday in a time of 18min 45sec for the 11.8 kilometre
course. The Russian rider Natalia Boiarskaia took the silver medal in
the under-18 event nine seconds behind Cooke, while Lithuania's Diana
Elmentaite took bronze a further second back.
