AT THE motor show, I missed the grand unveiling of the new Jaguar
S-Type. Half-a-dozen other news stories had broken, and I was busy
on the stands of rival manufacturers Ford, Peugeot and Rover.
When I finally made it over to the Jaguar stand, the crowds had
died down, and I had the chance to study the new car in a closed
viewing room, with just a group of Jaguar technicians and designers
for company.
Their pride was palpable - and understandable.
Some cars take a while to register in the mind's eye. Others - I
count the Jaguar among them look just right as soon as you clap eyes
on them.
The new S-Type, which is being built at the firm's Castle Bromwich
plant after huge investment, appears ...
