Champagne is my drink of choice for the kinds of parties we hold in May: wedding showers, graduation celebrations, reunion brunches. It's festive and especially appropriate for early afternoon imbibing. There's only one problem. I can't afford enough of the real thing to serve the friends and relatives that gather at my house for these kinds of events.
