FRENCH designer Herve Leger has been sacked from his own house of
couture after only one season under new ownership.
He claims he clashed with fellow directors over plans to expand
the company and, in a statement headed "Designer Herve Leger brutally
fired", says he was "punished for being a nuisance".
Leger may have been a comparatively new name in the hall of
Parisian fashion fame, but his following reached far beyond France.
Fans include actress Patricia Arquette, model Jerry Hall and singer
Celine Dion. Possibly the most dramatic example of his work was that
worn by Nicole Kidman in Batman Forever. In England, Viscountess
Linley became virtually a Leger mannequin.
