AUSTRALIA and Essex batsman Stuart Law launched a stinging attack on the state of English cricket today labelling county players average and criticising them for being selfish, writes David Bond.

Law, who has just returned to his Queensland home after his fourth season in the English county game, ended the summer as the country's leading run scorer with a stunning haul of 1,833 runs at an average of 73.39.

But the 30-year-old, who is still hopeful of playing for Australia, said: "Guys are so happy at being average in England.

They want a pay rise for being average. They are all about me, looking after number one and not worrying about your mates.
