The head of the Prince George's Republican Party this week
promised "ground warfare" to kill new efforts to revoke term limits,
which voters approved in 1992.
"We're going to community associations and civic associations, op-
ed pages and radio," said Michael Steele, who backs limits. "The
council members don't get it. It still hasn't gotten through their
heads that the voters have spoken."
This week, the County Council introduced two separate bills that
would end term limits, which now prevent the council and county
executive from running for more than two four-year terms.
One of the proposals would lift the restriction for the council,
and a second would remove it for the county executive.
