PASHMINAS were exchanged for chain mail and bubble wrap when a
large flock of celebrities including Sarah Ferguson, Claudia Schiffer
and Conrad Black descended on the East End for a charity function in
world-class curry alley Brick Lane.
The knees-up, which was organised by Kay Saatchi and Hayat Palumbo
- the wives of Charles Saatchi and Lord Palumbo respectively - had
"industrial chic" as its theme and took place at the Atlantis
Gallery, in a warehouse very close to the old Truman's Brewery
building.
Obligingly, the jolly old East End welcomed the guests in their
posh frocks and smashing titfers - in aid of Tommy's Charity.
