IT IS supposed to provide hi-tech security for drivers but the
sound of a car alarm is doing nothing to deter thieves because
everyone else ignores it.
In an experiment with "thieves" loading cars on to a lorry in
broad daylight, dozens of witnesses simply took a look and passed on
by.
Not one called the police as in three tests, two dodgy-looking men
winched brand new cars, alarms blaring, on to a low-loader in public
places.
The experiments by motoring magazine Auto Express followed reports
that thieves were using such methods, despite the apparent risks.
