The Eleanor Roosevelt softball players decided last week if they
wanted to advance to the Maryland 4A state tournament, they needed to
put in some extra work.
So Monday, after beating Parkdale, 19-2, in a 4A South Region
quarterfinal, the Raiders went to a batting cage and worked on their
hitting for two hours. They did the same thing after practice Tuesday
and after Wednesday's 16-0 semifinal win over Largo.
Finally, Thursday, Roosevelt was ready to face Bowie, the
defending region champion. The Raiders left school at noon, made one
last trip to the batting cage and then beat the Bulldogs, 3-1, to win
the 4A South Region title.
