THE stamps the Queen is selling from her world-famous collection
were revealed to collectors today.
They include a penny black on a wrapper sent from Liverpool to
Abergavenny on 6 May, 1840 - the day Britain introduced the postal
service to the world.
The coveted first day issue is expected to fetch up to 8,000 and
is among up to 400,000-worth of British and Empire stamps from the
Royal Philatelic Collection to go under the hammer at Spink
auctioneers in London on 17 May.
Some 200 items from the most famous collection of its type in the
world are being sold to fund "a programme of enhancement", which has
