FROM the top of the Fresh Kills rubbish dump it was once possible
to see clear across the bay to the two towers of the World Trade
Center.
Now the towers are coming closer, carried as piles of rubble, one
lorry load at a time.
Mixed with the shattered concrete and shards of plate glass is a
coarse grey dust. It is everything from aircraft seats to papers and
office equipment, but also almost certainly all that remains of 5,000
