British Airways and Air France are asking two aircraft
manufacturers for an "action plan" to address safety problems that
have grounded all of the world's Concorde supersonic jetliners
indefinitely, British Airways said today.
Authorities in France and Britain formally revoked the planes'
certificate of airworthiness today, meaning the jets cannot legally
operate. The planes won't return to service, government officials
said, until the cause of the July 25 crash of a Concorde outside
Paris has been clearly identified and corrected.
Despite concerns that the cost of these repairs could spell the
end of Concorde service, British Airways expressed firm confidence
