The Continental Basketball Association and a New York sports
venture firm are putting the final touches on an agreement to bring
an expansion team to Upper Marlboro, and hope to have an introductory
press conference next week.
"It's just a matter of faxing documents back and forth and getting
the language right," said Eric Margenau, president of United Sports
Ventures (USV). "We're almost there now."
The CBA wants to close the deal as soon as possible because it has
to work out the schedule for the 2000-01 season.
The team will play in the Show Place Arena. The Upper Marlboro
franchise would be the league's 11th, with Gary (Ind.) also scheduled
to join this winter.
