Early this year, a plan to develop a bed-and-breakfast hotel,
restaurant and retail center in historic downtown Guthrie appeared
to be going down the tubes along with oil prices.
A group of New York investors, who were expected to put up about
$1 million, backed out when the price of oil plummeted to about $10
a barrel. Steve Zabel, who had headed the project for two years,
was up against a wall.
"Then, I received a call from Dr. Robert Ringrose and his wife,
Pat,'' said Zabel. "They live in Guthrie, and they feel the project
is important to Guthrie, so they offered to help raise money in
Guthrie.''
The end result of that phone call is the Harrison House, a
23-room Victorian ...
