Article: TULSA FIRM TO BEGIN TESTING ON EXPLORATORY CARBON DIOXIDE WELL

Journal Record Staff Reporter Testing is scheduled to begin Thursday on an exploratory carbon dioxide well drilled by Sofia Exploration Co. on its 40,000-acre holding in New Mexico.

Sofia, whose operation headquarters are in Tulsa, has spent the past four years acquiring the land, located approximately 23 miles north of Amoco's Bravo Dome, the world's largest known carbon dioxide reserve.

Sofia is the American subsidiary of Canada's Roxana Resources Ltd., and is operated by the group of Tulsa partners, among them Dean Shipman, a Tulsa oilman, Philip Siekman, a member of Fortune Magazine's editorial staff for 20 years, and W. Richard Thixton, an oil industry consultant.
