Sen. Charles S. Robb (D-Va.) isn't doing a whole heck of a lot in
his reelection campaign just now, and it's giving George Allen, his
Republican opponent, absolute fits.
Robb certainly isn't flashing a lot of money around Virginia,
spending a measly $212,000 in the last five weeks, in contrast to the
$890,000 that Allen spent during the same period.
And when Robb hits the campaign trail, there is none of the local
buzz that accompanies Allen on his well-publicized RV tour of back
roads and country hollows--the heart and soul of Allen territory in
the Old Dominion. By contrast, Robb's idea of a photo opportunity is
him standing stiffly behind an auditorium lectern, talking policy.
