One thing you may learn if you invest in a laptop is that a little
attention to how well you take care of that pricey plastic-and-metal
bundle can save a lot of stress and annoyance down the road.
Unlike a desktop, where fried components can be replaced easily,
if something goes wrong with a laptop, generally the entire device
needs to be looked at by a professional technician--and possibly be
replaced altogether.
As a result, computer manufacturers offer extended, multi-year
warranties if you agree to shell out for them when you buy your
laptop. Dell, for example, will extend its warranty for the model we
