It was in 1937 that Randy Shaw, then 18, first went to work at Beverly's Restaurant.

Shaw, a native of Marlow, Okla., was promoted to manager the second night.

"I went to work washing dishes so I could go to high school and then to junior college," said Shaw, "I got $2 a day for 12 hours work. If I had $2 tips it was a huge night."

Now 50 years later, Shaw is the owner of Beverly's Restaurants as the company celebrates its 66th anniversary.

Beverly's Restaurant Day has been proclaimed for May 19 by Mayor Ron Norick.
