A group of insurance agents won a victory in the legislature this year with the passage of Senate Bill 136, which requires that licensed agents take 18 hours of continuing education over a three year period.

For at least 14 years, legislation proposing continuing education requirements for insurance providers has been introduced to Oklahoma lawmakers, but the bills were killed in committee, according to Charles Hull, president of the Oklahoma City Association of Life Underwriters and a local agent for CM Alliance.
