Article: LEGISLATORS TO TEST WATERS ON DOG RACING, LOTTERY

Authors ofmeasures calling for pari-mutuel dog racing and a state lottery plan to test the waters of the Oklahoma Legislature before they ultimately decide whether to try to push for passage in 1988.

Rep. Jim Glover, D-Elgin, authored House Bill 1455 calling for a lottery in Oklahoma, while Sen. Frank Shurden, D-Henryetta, authored Senate Bill 231 which would allow pari-mutuel dog racing.

Both bills were introduced earlier this year in the Legislature.

While House Bill 1455 passed through the House Administration Committee, Glover chose not to bring it up for consideration on the House floor.

Senate Bill 231 was assigned to Senate Rules Committee but was never considered by that ...
