"Racetrack plaid" is the new buzz word from the Haggar Co. about the
patterning in its spring/summer sport jackets. With Oklahoma City's
Remington Park about to open at summer's end, the terminology is apt
for Oklahoma men.
At the spring/summer press preview sponsored by the Men's
Fashion Association in Chicago, plaids were spotlighted by many
designers of male fashions. Some plaids were strong, while others
were so subtle that only a close-up look revealed the patterning.
This is not to say that the plaids were of the "horse blanket"
type in bright tones. Rather, the plaids were done in pastels or in
neutrals - but contrasted with whites to emphasize the patterning.
