An Oklahoma Supreme Court decision in a 1986 case involving the
length of a legislative day makes it unnecessary for the court to
take up the issue again, according to a response Friday by Assistant
Attorney General Neal Leader.
The response was drafted as a reply to a suit filed by Gov.
Henry Bellmon against the Oklahoma Legislature.
Friday was the deadline by which the defendants in the suit,
including Oklahoma House of Representatives Speaker Jim Barker,
D-Muskogee, Oklahoma Senate President Pro Tempore Bob Cullison,
D-Skiatook, and Lt. Gov. Robert S. Kerr III, had to respond to
Bellmon's original filing on Wednesday. Attorney General Robert
