Article: WILSON FOODS EMPLOYEES TRYING TO HALT TAKEOVER

A group of Wilson Foods Corp. employees in Oklahoma City have started a campaign to block the proposed takeover of the company by Doskocil Companies Inc. of South Hutchinson, Kan.

About 2,700 Wilson retirees and 5,000 employees nationwide have been asked by the group to buy Wilson stock, according to Bob Brown, a commodity analyst for Wilson in Oklahoma City and one of the leaders of the campaign.

The effort started Friday, Brown said, when a group of Wilson employees in Oklahoma City met to discuss the proposed takeover by Doskocil.

"We decided that it was time to do something for ourselves," Brown said. "Our prime objective is to block the takeover."
