At the age of five, Beth Dale Hays loved to wander down to the
county courthouse where her father, F. Hiner Dale was the
prosecuting attorney in Texas County during early statehood days.
"The murders were awful, but so exciting," said Hays who
practices probate law in Oklahoma City.
"When people came at 9 a.m. they thought I had no business in
the courtroom. They would hold me in their laps and give me mints
or gum to try to bribe me into giving up my seat," she said.
For Hays, 75, choosing law developed naturally from the
influence of her father, known as a well-loved character of Western
Oklahoma, and her two older brothers who also went into law.
