Article: 1990 FINDS U.S. HEALTH CARE SYSTEM AT CROSSROADS

The American health care system is at a crossroads.

Health care in the 1990s, while possessing tremendous potential for improvement, must address some critical issues which will ultimately require modifications in the system. Health care costs are yet to be controlled, and the American business sector is struggling with how it will pay for health care services for its employees.

The other end of the spectrum displays large groups of people in this country who work but have no health insurance. Additionally, care for the indigent and the elderly is still an issue as the government continues to decrease reimbursement for Medicare and Medicaid patients.
