The number of minorities working in the Montgomery County police
department is lower than in similar jurisdictions, and more can be
done to hire diverse employees, according to a report prepared for
the county by an independent consulting firm.
The most underrepresented groups are Latinos and Asians, according
to the report, prepared by Personnel Performance Inc., based in San
Diego. The firm conducted the study based on interviews with police
department employees and an examination of department documents. The
report was released to Montgomery County Council members during a
recent public safety committee meeting.
