Article: MOTOR VEHICLE PANEL ADOPTS ODOMETER CONVICTION RULES

Motor vehicle sales representatives convicted of turning back the odometers will have a tougher time obtaining licenses to operate in Oklahoma next year.

According to a policy adopted Tuesday by the Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission, applications to obtain or renew a sales license must be determined by a hearing before the commission.

That rule, which takes affect July 1, 1991, calls for the commission's executive director to automatically recommend denial of the application and the commission will follow that recommendation. If the applicant wants to pursue the matter further, a public hearing and an appeal before the commission can be requested.
