There's nothing good about playing hockey games on back-to-back nights, especially when travel is involved. But the Capitals were glad to be here tonight, 24 hours after disappointing a home crowd at MCI Center in the season opener.

The short turnaround between the games didn't allow the Capitals time to stew about mistakes they had made and opportunities they missed the previous night. They flew out of the Washington area this morning and did not practice when they arrived here, preferring to be rested and ready for tonight's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
