Article: State, U.S. Rig Counts Up from Previous Week

Journal Record Staff Reporter Oklahoma's active drilling rig count rose to 105 last week, up 6 percent from 99 the previous week. That was still 16 percent below 125 rigs working in the comparable week a year ago, according to Baker Hughes Inc. of Houston, which has monitored the rig count since 1940. Nationally, there were 850 rigs working last week, a climb of 3.2 percent from 824 the previous week. That was 14.2 percent lower than 991 rigs working during the comparable week in 1990, though.
