The blood of Oklahomans is among the safest, most disease free
in the world and in high demand.
That safety factor makes the donated blood of Oklahomans a
sought-after resource that brings money into Oklahoma and provides
jobs for Oklahomans, said Dr. Ronald Gilcher, director of the
Sylvan N. Goldman Center, Oklahoma Blood Institute.
"The rest of the country wants Oklahoma's blood, because it is
the safest blood that you can get. From all over the country we get
calls every day from people who want any extra blood that we have
in our system," Gilcher said.
